I attended a session of Kripalu’s online fall writing program last night with Asif Ullah. The topic was Creative Non-Fiction, and during the session, we worked on a piece of Flash Non-Fiction. Our directive was to write a momento of a time when we felt anything was possible.
This is my piece:
I can’t easily recall a moment when I’ve felt this happy. Looking at the clear, blue-green water, running my fingers through the smooth, multicolored pebbles, and listening to the soft clink as the waves wash over them, I feel at peace, at home in my skin. My breathing and my heartbeat are slow. My mind is at ease. I’m present in this moment, my mind is here, on this beach in Croatia, not thinking about what I need to do later or the emails piling up in my inbox. This place is pure magic. The vastness of the sea reminds me that anything is possible. The sound of moving water soothes my soul, inspires me to keep going, and renews my passion for life.
